wow. my biggest problem with environmentalism has not been the idea of preserving and caring for the earth, but the fact that many environmentalists seem to have a complete disregard for the very real needs of their own species. (eg, many third-world pollutants come from open-air cooking fires--a regrettable expression of extreme poverty, but not something to eliminate without a viable alternative) It's a weird form of self-hatred. This, I have to say, takes species self-hatred to a whole new level...
